Grad Week 2024 supports graduating class for next chapter

Posted: Apr 09, 2024

Transitioning from university to the next phase of life is an exciting but challenging time, filled with questions and uncertainty about what comes next. To address these challenges, the U of G Alumni, in partnership with Student Experience, the Central Student Association, and the Experiential Learning Hub, have developed Grad Week initiatives to support students during this transition.

Grad Launch

Grad Launch is a resource fair designed to make the transition to the next chapter smoother for graduating students. It offers an opportunity for students to meet with representatives from various U of G services that can assist them in their future plans.

The event aims to give graduates a better understanding of life after graduation and to introduce them to U of G services that can help them. Services featured at the event include the University of Guelph Alumni Association, which informs students about the benefits of being a Guelph graduate, and the Experiential Learning Hub, which provides support for entering the workforce, including resume reviews.

Last Lecture

The Last Lecture is an opportunity for reflection and inspiration, featuring talks from a graduating student, a faculty member chosen by the graduating class, and an alumni member.

This year’s alumni speaker, Gabrielle (Gabi) Sundar Singh, BA Theatre Studies '11 from Toronto, discovered her love for theatre at U of G. Pursuing a career in acting, singing, and dancing, she has found fulfillment in teaching and mentoring young artists to achieve their creative dreams.

Last Toast

A final event for graduates to bid farewell to their undergraduate years and welcome their new status as alumni. It includes a toast from a graduating student and the U of G Alumni Association to the Class of 2024.
